TS-DIO64

64 Digital Input/Output Board

Lifecycle: Fully Developed | Released: May 2006

The TS-DIO64 is an 8-bit PC/104 (standard format) peripheral board that provides 64 digital I/O points (32 inputs plus 32 outputs) through two 34-pin locking connectors that are compatible with ribbon cables.

  • 32x digital inputs 0-30 VDC range (2.1 V nominal threshold)
  • 32x digital outputs up to 40 VDC (200/400 mA sink)
  • Optional battery backed SRAM
  • 34 pin ribbon cables with locking mechanism
  • Jumper selectable I/O address
$94 (Qty. 1)
No minimum order quantity on standard products.

The TS-DIO64 is an 8-bit PC/104 (standard format) peripheral board that provides 64 digital I/O points (32 inputs plus 32 outputs) through two 34-pin locking connectors that are compatible with ribbon cables.

Up to 4 TS-DIO64 boards may be installed into a single system, enabling up to 256 DIO points (128 inputs plus 128 outputs). The TS-DIO64 DIO functions are compatible with any PC/104 SBC including all the embeddedTS ArmĀ®-based and X86 products. The PC/104 interface decodes as registers in I/O space, the address is jumper selectable. The on-board red LED indicates the battery health, while the green LED provides 5V power status.

  • 32 Digital Inputs
    • 0-30V range
    • 2.1V nominal threshold
  • 32 Digital Outputs
    • up to 40V
    • 200/400mA sink per output

One of the 34-pin connectors has 32 inputs; the other has 32 outputs. 22 outputs can sink 200mA, while 10 can sink 400mA. These can be paralleled to get much higher current drive. Each input can be driven from 0V to +30V. A logic "1" is any voltage greater than 3.0V. A logic zero is any voltage lower than 1.2V. Each input has a 4.7k ohm resistor pull-up to 5V.

The optional battery-backed SRAM is decoded in ISA memory space at a location determined by the SRAM control register. The battery-backed SRAM option is only designed to work with the TS-7000 series SBCs.

There are no drivers available for this product. The board functions are accessed via registers which appear in the CPU memory space, according to the jumper selectable I/O address decode. When using Linux, it is possible to read/write to these registers either from user or kernel space. Quick hardware tests can be performed using embeddedTS provided utilities (peek and poke).
