New TS-TPC-8390-4900 7" Touch Panel PC Powered by TS-4900 SoM Running Linux, Android, QNX, and Windows
Fountain Hills, AZ May 1, 2015 – Technologic Systems Inc., an embedded systems solutions company, has announced alongside their TS-4900 general availability release, the TS-TPC-8390-4900 7-inch touch panel computer solution powered by the TS-4900. The TS-TPC-8390-4900 can fulfill a wide variety of embedded system requirements such as digital signage, kiosk, or point of sale applications. The TS-TPC-8390-4900 brings out the high end components of the TS-4900 such as a 1 GHz Single or Quad Arm® Cortex®-A9 core, 512 MB, 1 GB, or 2 GB DDR3 RAM, 4 GB eMMC Flash Storage, microSD card slot, Gigabit Ethernet, and available Wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth radio. The TS-TPC-8390 baseboard comes with a 7-inch resistive TFT display with high brightness (800 nit) and standard connectors for use in extended temperature ranges. TS-4900 Module Highlights
Highlights of the TS-4900 are its high performance components built for accelerated graphics, industry standard connections, wireless capabilities, and flexibility of multiple operating system support including Linux, Android, and QNX Neutrino® RTOS, with Windows support coming soon. Applications range widely, as the TS-4900 is general purpose and fits nearly any embedded systems applications, such as high definition digital signage and kiosks to Internet of Things (IoT) type applications. Furthermore, the industrial temperature option enables the TS-4900 to function in rugged environments such as those found in automotive and military applications.
TS-TPC-8390 Baseboard Highlights
Highlights of the TS-TPC-8390 are its commercial grade 7-inch, 800 nit, WVGA touchscreen LCD complete with standard connectors like dual Ethernet ports, 4 USB ports, and headphone and speaker jacks. Also included is support for interfaces such as DIO, RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, CAN, SPI, and I2C. Reliability is enhanced through entirely solid-state operation with no moving parts and requires no fans. The rugged aluminum support frames the 7-inch TFT LCD, making it an ideal solution for mounting on a wall or cabinet.

The TS-TPC-8390-4900 boots from the onboard Flash or microSD card to Linux, Android, QNX Neutrino RTOS, or Windows operating systems via U-Boot bootloader. The TS-TPC-8390-4900 comes standard with Yocto Linux distribution running the 3.10 kernel version, specially customized to take full advantage of the i.MX6 CPU 3D graphics acceleration capabilities, and boots to shell prompt in under 6 seconds. Development toolchains such as GNU and QTCreator are also included to accelerate GUI development. Linux distribution support can be easily expanded to include Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Slackware, etc. Optionally, QNX Neutrino RTOS or Android can be preloaded out of the box, with Windows support coming soon. Technologic Systems also includes user space utilities for controlling various aspects of the board, like DIO, SPI, and UARTs.

About TS-SOCKET™ Open Standard
The TS-4900 is a low profile, passively cooled, credit card sized System-on-Module using Technologic Systems' TS-SOCKET connectors to interface with the TS-TPC-8390 TS-SOCKET baseboard. For projects requiring customized baseboards, customers can either hire Technologic Systems' custom design services or engineer their own custom baseboard using the dual 100-pin connectors available for purchase on the Technologic Systems website.
