With a large 10-inch touch panel screen and proven reliability, the TS-TPC-8950-4900 is a workhorse in the HMI and digital signage industries with the solo or quad core NXP i.MX6 with the Arm® Cortex®-A9 core. Asset tracking is also possible thanks to a mini-PCIe socket for cellular modem, and SIM card socket*. The TS-TPC-8950-4900 is capable of hardware-accelerated 3D graphics for eye-catching kiosks and has plenty of industry standard connectors and interfaces for control and data acquisition, including Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, SPI, I2C, and GPIO. The engine powering this solution is the TS-4900 System-on-Module, with high performance CPU, integrated WiFi and Bluetooth module, configurable eMMC flash (SLC or MLC), microSD socket, SATA II port, and PCI-e bus. Additional interfaces, such as UARTs, DIO, etc., are brought out on the TS-8950 baseboard via two 100-pin TS-SOCKET connectors. A 10-inch TFT SVGA resistive touch panel display with high brightness (320 nit) completes the solution.

The TS-TPC-8950-4900 is the bigger brother to the TS-TPC-8390-4900, running the same TS-4900 engine with a bigger screen and the addition of mSATA (quad core only), mini PCIe, XBee socket, PoE+, and SIM socket*. It's also an upgrade path for customers of the TS-TPC-8900-4700.

The TS-TPC-8950-4900 comes preloaded with Yocto Linux, which takes full advantage of the hardware accelerated graphics as well as other user space utilities to control DIO, SPI, and more to help jumpstart your development efforts. Other operating systems such as Android, and QNX are also available (Windows is not compatible with the TS-TPC-8950-4900). There's also a flexible choice of GUI frameworks including Qt, GTK, DirectFB, and more. Familiar GNU development tools, like gcc and gdb, are also installed, making on-board development easy. Cross compile toolchains are also available so you can develop using your favorite desktop IDE. Finally, as with most Linux distributions, other services like Apache Web Server, CGI-BIN, FTP, SSH, Telnet, Samba network services, etc. are available. An example CGI-BIN application has also been preloaded. Also included are user space utilities and applications to control DIO, SPI, and more so that you can get your product to market in record time.
